By 2025, there will be 100 billion devices connected to the Internet. How will you and your organisation capitalise on this tremendous opportunity?

The Internet of Things industry has been identified as a technological revolution based on interconnected resources, communication and data analytics. It corresponds to the most promising segment of the economy engaged in the transformation of traditional industries and the development of strategies for emerging industries.

IoT is an extensive field where anyone from the electronics, computer science or mechanical domains can find an opportunity. As this industry grows, more tech engineers, more data scientists and more product managers will be required. So, the right time to be IoT-ready is now!

Simply said, doing business using IoT is a game changer for organisations of all sizes and across all industries. It is for this reason that IoT is so hyped. Billions of sensors ! Trillions of dollars ! But despite the hype, the Internet of Things is for real.

According to research experts Statista,

  • Revenue in the IoT market is projected to reach US$9.72 billion by 2023.
  • The market's largest segment is Smart Home Technologies with a projected market volume of US$9.41 billion by 2023.
  • Revenue is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2023-2027) of 10.90%, resulting in a market volume of US$14.70 billion by 2027.

But despite the above, the fact is, most IoT initiatives today fail:

  • Cisco reports that only 26% of IoT projects survive the pilot stage.
  • McKinsey and the World Economic Forum report that 71% of IR4.0 companies are stuck in what is called Pilot Purgatory.

This isn’t because of a lack of standards or weak security; it’s mostly because the incremental value created by these IoT pilots is less than their incremental cost. This is a huge challenge indeed and to overcome it requires developing a different mindset...a winning mindset !

If you’re asking yourself if your organisation should embrace the Internet of Things, instead ask yourself if your organisation currently embraces the Internet. If it does, then by definition, your organisation must embrace the Internet of Things. It’s not a question of if - it’s a question of when !

  • Technology professionals looking to bring IoT into their organisations to improve their competitive advantage, by understanding how to harness the immense power of IoT for their business.
  • Engineers and consultants who wish to build on their existing skills in IT and apply them to designing, building and troubleshooting IoT solutions for a range of scenarios.
  • Personnel who wish to overlay an IoT ecosystem over their existing communications network.
  • Entrepreneurs, SME owners and investors keen to learn how to monetise and profitably use IoT.

The Internet of Things is happening with or without you. And not because it’s a cool technology...customers don’t care about the tech at all. IoT is happening because of what it enables. IoT’s “Killer App” is - Outcomes. It is outcomes that customers ultimately want, and it will be outcomes that will drive all technical and business strategies ultimately. By attending this programme you will be equipped with an actionable high-level IoT Strategy and Plan.
